We’ve just found out that Backstory has been named London’s independent bookshop of the year by a panel of wise souls at the British Book Awards.

I’m hopping about the room with excitement, so — for once — I can’t really think what to write.

So ‘thank you’ will have to do. To our wonderful customers, the esteemed (and did I mention wise?) judges, our fellow shortlisted bookshops, and most of all to my business partner Denise and our colleagues Darby, Isobel, Zoë and Francis.

Of course, I knew they were London’s best booksellers. But they deserve to be officially recognised as such.
